While I was completely rebuilding the dash, now was the perfect time to add Air Conditioning. Even though my car never came with the option 40 years ago, it's a creature comfort I didn't want to live without here in the southwestern heat.
I chose a kit from Classic Auto Air which makes one specifically designed to fit Chevelles. Notice the hole through the firewall before the AC system was installed. I also upgraded the scuzzy alternator for a nice 100-amp 1-wire chromed one, as well as a new set of valve covers and air cleaner to match.
